IDF soldier killed, three injured when jeep overturns
Troops were on patrol near the Gaza border; army launches investigation
An IDF soldier was killed and three others were wounded when a jeep they were traveling in overturned on Saturday, the army said.
The accident occurred when the troops were on an operational patrol near the southern Gaza Strip border.
Two of the injured were in a serious condition and a third soldier was lightly hurt, the army said. The families of the soldiers have been notified.
The killed soldier was named as Sgt. Yuval Maneh, 20, of Givatayim.
The injured soldiers were taken to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba.
It was not immediately clear what caused the jeep to overturn and Eyal Zamir, head of the IDF’s Southern Command, ordered an investigation.
Maneh’s funeral was scheduled for Sunday at 6:30 p.m. the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery north of Tel Aviv.
