IDF video shows terrorists caught in the act

Two Tanzim members try to shoot at cars near Beit Fajjar but are spotted by a military observation team

The IDF Spokesperson’s office on Thursday released video footage taken last month of two terrorists captured by Israeli soldiers as they prepared to fire at passing Israeli vehicles.

The video was recorded on February 15 by two female soldiers who spotted the terrorists from a military observation post near Beit Fajjar, a Palestinian town next to Gush Etzion, approximately 23 kilometers (14 miles) south of Jerusalem.

After the soldiers report that the men are attempting to carry out a shooting attack, an IDF patrol arrives, and the men try to flee. Moments later, they can be seen returning in surrender, their hands over their heads.

The two were handed over to the Shin Bet security service for interrogation, the army said, and the subsequent investigation led to the apprehension of three additional members of the same terror cell. The five, aged 23 to 31, are members of Tanzim, which is affiliated with the ruling Palestinian Fatah party of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.

The terrorists, all residents of Beit Fajjar, confessed during questioning to several shooting and Molotov cocktail attacks against Israelis, the IDF said. Investigators seized six rifles and a fake bomb from the cell members. The five were recently indicted in a military court.
