Ex-UK Labour chief pops up as ‘sick man’ on American TV
Picture of Ed Miliband appears in NBC story on flu season; his photo previously used in hoax story claiming he was 'fixer' for sex partners
A photograph of the former leader of Britain’s Labour Party was used to illustrate someone sick with the flu during a television segment on flu season on American television network.
While the NBC newscaster relays that “flu season has arrived” and that “there’s concern not enough people are getting a flu shot,” a photograph of Ed Miliband blowing his nose appears on the screen, which was reportedly taken at a Labour Party conference in 2011, according to The Guardian.
NBC seemed to use Miliband’s image as an illustrative photo without knowing who he is.
Miliband, who is Jewish, was the leader of the Labour Party from 2010 to 2015, after defeating his brother David Miliband in the leadership battle.
He resigned in May 2015 after Labour was thumped by the Conservative Party in a general election.
This was not the first occasion that Miliband’s image has been previously misused.
In October, a photo of Miliband was featured in an article on alt-right website, in which he was alleged to be a “paid fixer” to find partners for a “sex-obsessed” Hillary Clinton, BuzzFeed noted.
