In first since Jerusalem terror shooting, seriously hurt IDF officer puts uniform on

An off-duty Israel Defense Forces officer who was seriously wounded in a terror attack last month in Jerusalem was back on his feet on Wednesday morning, putting on his uniform for the first time since the shooting and joining a military ceremony at the Western Wall.

On January 28, Lt. Nadav Weinberg and his father were shot by a 13-year-old Muhammad Aliwat from Silwan on Ma’alot Ir David Street, just outside the Old City.

Despite being seriously wounded, Weinberg returned fire at the Palestinian teenager, wounding him before he was detained by police.

For around a month, the officer remained hospitalized in serious condition. His father was also seriously hurt in the terror attack, but was released from medical care several days later.

On Wednesday, for the first time since the attack, Weinberg put on his uniform and joined around 1,000 troops of the 202nd Paratroopers Battalion, who had hiked to the Western Wall for a military ceremony.

Weinberg was greeted at the ceremony with cheers by his soldiers and commanders.
