Iran Guards chief: ‘Zionists have no safe haven in occupied Palestine’

In his latest diatribe against Israel, the head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that “Zionists have no safe haven in occupied Palestine and all parts of the land are within the reach of Palestinian resistance movements’ firepower,” according to Fars News.

Major General Hossein Salami added that, “When Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah is added to this equation, the conclusion is the deployment of hundreds of thousands of missiles that are pointed at the Zionist regime.”

Salami claimed, without any clear basis, that a growing number of Israelis are emigrating as “Zionists are not the type to stand their ground and to fight back” in the face of such resistance.

Salami often makes claims about Israel’s demise. In June, he said the country was collapsing — due to the dissolution of the government and the calling of fresh elections.

Iran’s enemies are “helpless, incapable and hopeless in pursuing their goals,” he said then.

Iran directly supports the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terror group, which fought with Israel earlier this month in the Gaza Strip. Iran’s supreme leader applauded the PIJ for the three-day conflict, telling its leader it had proven Palestinians could “crush the enemy.”

On Friday, Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group warned of an “escalation” with Israel if Lebanese demands are not met in maritime border talks.

“If the Lebanese state is not given what it wants, we will be heading to an escalation,” the Hezbollah leader said, according to Lebanese news site Naharnet. “Should the US mediator come and give the Lebanese state what it wants, we will be heading to calm, regardless of whether or not there will be a nuclear agreement.”

The Hezbollah chief has recently issued a number of threats toward Israel, amid intensified US efforts to resolve the more than a decade-old maritime border dispute between Jerusalem and Beirut, which have officially been at war since the Jewish state’s creation in 1948.
