The chief Iranian nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili said that Western efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear program have failed, the Iranian state news agency IRNA reported on Wednesday.

Speaking to the Iranian parliament, Jalili decried Western sanctions and economic pressures against the Islamic Republic, adding that Tehran views peaceful nuclear activities as a basic, legitimate right and symbol of progress.

He stressed that all Western efforts to stop Iran’s nuclear activities have failed.
