A young Israeli man was arrested Thursday while crossing over to Egypt through the southern Taba Crossing after five handgun bullets were found in his bags.
Daniel Haim, 24, from Holon, works as a security guard and apparently forgot the bullets in the bag when packing.
Haim is currently under arrest in the Sinai town of Nuweiba, with his remand extended by 15 days. His lawyer is considering appealing the decision.
Multiple Israelis have been arrested in the past after bullets were found in pockets of their bags — usually young men just recently out of the army.
Most cases end after a few days with deportation and potentially a fine.
The Foreign Ministry said it was aware of the incident and was dealing with the matter through its channels.
