Israeli couple killed in south Florida crash
Benny and Zafrit Binyamin, who lived in the US, killed in accident near Miami, leaving 8-year-old daughter
An Israeli couple who lived in Florida were killed in a car crash near their home north of Miami on Saturday night, leaving their 8-year-old daughter orphaned.
Benny Binyamin, 42, and Zafrit Binyamin, 41, were returning from a night out with a friend, who was driving the car.
The crash happened as the car was nearing the couple’s home in Broward County, north of Miami.
The couple were killed on the spot and the driver was taken to the hospital in moderate condition. Police suspect that she may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident, according to reports.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry confirmed the deaths and said it was working through the consulate in Miami to assist the families of the deceased.
A spokesperson added that the ministry was working to obtain an emergency visa for Zafrit’s father to fly to the US to attend the funeral.
The couple had lived in the US for many years and Benny owned a used car lot, Ynet reported.
A crowdfunding campaign has been set up to raise money for their daughter, Shiraz, who is being cared for by family members.
