Israeli film headed to Berlin film fest
Critically acclaimed filmmaker Nadav Lapid will present his short flick 'Why?' next month in German capital
Israeli director Nadav Lapid will represent Israel at the 65th annual Berlin Film Festival next month.
Lapid, whose 2011 feature “The Policeman” and 2014 feature “The Kindergarten Teacher” were both critically acclaimed, will present his short film, “Why?” at the festival. The film – the only work by an Israeli to be accepted to Berlin this year – was produced as part of a short film competition through the Sam Spiegel School as part of their series, “A Love Letter to the Movies.”
Lapid is among the most respected Israeli directors of his generation, and known for works that tread the lines between right and wrong, knowledge and belief, and good and evil.
“The Policeman” earned the best screenplay award from 2011’s Jerusalem Film Festival, and “The Kindergarten Teacher” snapped up the Israeli Film Critics Forum Prize at that festival’s 2014 edition.
