Israeli man in intensive care after Cleveland shooting
Victim found lying in pool of blood after being shot in mouth and leg, police tell local media
An Israeli citizen is in intensive care after he was found shot in the face and leg in Cleveland, Ohio, on Sunday, according to local media reports.
The man, in his 30s, is hospitalized at Cleveland’s University Hospital, Cleveland police Detective Reginald Lanton told Cleveland.com.
He was reportedly discovered by a woman who was checking out a rental apartment in the city’s East Side. She found him lying in a pool of blood and called police.
Police who arrived at the scene at first feared he was unconscious and not breathing, but then saw him move his arm and gesture that he had been shot.
Officers found a bullet casing, a bicycle, and a bag containing a laptop computer and personal items at the scene.
A witness told police that he saw a suspicious man in the area immediately before hearing gunshots.
Cleveland police notified Israeli diplomatic officials of the incident.
The street where he was found is in one of Cleveland’s poorest, most crime-ridden neighborhoods. There was no immediate report on a possible motive for the shooting. No arrests have yet been made.
