An Israeli tourist was killed while on an extreme adventure ride in Cusco, Peru, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

The man, identified as Orel Guetta, 24, of Kfar Saba, apparently fell to his death after a cable came loose on the “Tarzan” pendulum attraction, which swings riders along a canyon from a harness 100 meters in the air.

Medics were unable to save Guetta, who suffered severe injuries in the accident.

He was taken to the SOS clinic in Cusco where three of his friends identified him.

The Foreign Ministry and the Israeli consul in Peru were working to arrange the return of the Guetta’s body to Israel as soon as possible for burial.

His family has been informed of his death.

In April 2015 Israeli Max Sela, 24, plunged to his death off a zip-line platform in the Machu Picchu region of Peru. Sela had traveled to Peru with two friends after finishing his IDF army service. The three visited the Cola de Mono zip-lining site, a leading tourist attraction in the area. Sela was climbing the ramp when the structure collapsed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was brought back to Israel where he was buried.
