Israeli trekker rescued from Argentina glacier after being stranded for 24 hours

An Israeli traveler in Argentina was rescued Friday after becoming stranded in a glacier for a day.
Eitan Shaked, 23, was injured while trekking alone around the Ojo del Albino Glacier in southern Argentina and was eventually located after a guide reported hearing him screaming from an area difficult to access, according to local rescuers.
He was also suffering from hypothermia.
The rescuers took him by helicopter to a hospital in Ushuaia, the capital of the province of Tierra del Fuego.
In an Instagram post, Shaked said he got stuck after falling some 10 meters (32 feet) and broke his pelvis and elbow.
“I waited to be rescued for 24 hours, cut off without [cellphone] reception and food,” he said. “When they found me I was on the verge of death from hypothermia.”
Israel’s ambassador to Argentina and a local Jewish leader thanked the rescue team.
“We pray for his recovery,” tweeted Eliahu Hamra, who heads the Vaad HaKehilot, the Federation of Jewish Communities in Argentina.
