Israeli triple jumper clinches 4th place at world championship

With 14.42-meter jump, Hanna Knyazyeva-Minenko, 27, narrowly misses medal, behind Venezuela, Columbia, Kazakhstan

Israeli triple jump champion Hanna Knyazyeva-Minenko came in fourth place in the finals of the event at the IAAF World Championships in London on Monday.

Knyazyeva-Minenko, 27, clinched the spot with a jump of 14.42 meters (47.3 feet).

Knyazyeva-Minenko, who has been recovering from an injury, came fifth in the Rio Olympics in 2016 and placed fourth at the 2012 Olympics.

Her personal best is 14. 78 meters (48.5 feet).

Venezuela’s Yulimar Rojas claimed gold in the women’s triple jump. She upstaged Colombia’s Olympic champion Caterine Ibarguen.

Rojas, world indoor champion and silver medalist at the Rio Games behind Ibarguen, managed a best of 14.91 meters (48.9 feet) on her fifth effort.

Defending world champion Ibarguen was just 3 centimeters short in silver, with Kazakhstan’s Olga Rypakova taking bronze (14.77 meters, 48.4 feet).
