Jerusalem man, 82, killed while building sukkah
Octogenarian said electrocuted while hanging lighting in his booth; MDA publishes sukkah safety guide

An 82-year-old man was killed Thursday in an accident while building his sukkah.
The traditional ritual booth, built for the upcoming holiday of Sukkot, is a temporary outdoor shelter with a palm-frond roof meant to commemorate the Jews’ wanderings in the desert in the Biblical book of Exodus. It is often festooned with paper decorations and, in modern times, decorative lighting.
The man, a resident of Jerusalem, was reportedly electrocuted when he tried to place lighting in the sukkah.
He was evacuated by a Magen David Adom ambulance to the capital’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center, where doctors pronounced him dead.
