Over the weekend dozens of Jewish Israelis entered a building in Hebron with the purpose of inhabiting it without a proper permit, Haaretz reported Saturday, citing unnamed security sources.

According to the report, while the settlers claim to have bought the house, it is not legally registered to them. Meanwhile, a Palestinian told the paper he was the legal owner of the home.

The building is located between Kiryat Arba and the Cave of the Patriarchs.

The report said Israeli soldiers were guarding the families, despite the alleged lack of permit.

Meanwhile, Mahmoud Jabari told Haaretz he had filed a complaint with police, saying he is the building’s owner.

Hebron has seen multiple cases in which homes have come under dispute between Palestinians and Jews who asserted rights there, and settlers have sometimes squatted in buildings they claimed to own.
