Gaza rocket fire shatters holiday silence near Sderot
No damage or injuries reported in third terrorist attack on Sunday
A Kassam fired from the Gaza Strip struck Israel near Sderot Sunday night. Red Alert sirens sounded as the rocket struck open ground, inflicting no injuries or damage.
Two rockets landed near the southern city of Netivot earlier on Sunday morning. No damage or injuries were reported.
After weeks of relative calm along the southern border, Sunday’s attacks are the latest incidents in a flare-up that has lasted several days.
A rocket was discovered by the IDF on Saturday in an open area near Eilat. It was apparently launched simultaneously with another rocket that exploded overnight Wednesday in a residential area in the southern Israeli city.
Speaking in response to the rocket fire targeting Eilat, Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz vowed Israel “will overwhelm those who seek to harm Israeli citizens and the Jewish people.”
