Kudos to ‘Eretz Nehederet’ with film school award
The popular satirical TV show will be recognized by Sam Spiegel Film & Television School at upcoming graduation
Keshet’s satire TV show, “Eretz Nehederet,” is widely considered one of the funnier offerings on Israeli television.
Now the evening show, which has launched several Israeli careers and given a platform to well-known comedians, is being recognized for its groundbreaking humor with a honorary award given by Jerusalem’s Sam Spiegel Film and Television School.
“Eretz Nehederet,” known as Israel’s “Saturday Night Live,” won awards from the Israeli Academy of Film and Television for eight years in a row, from 2004 until 2011.
Sam Spiegel commended “Eretz Nehederet,” or “Wonderful Land,” for consistently taking on sensitive, important topics and doing so with pointed, relevant humor.
The show has been on the air since 2003, with 14 seasons that use a range of real and imaginary characters — and language — to poke fun at local life, culture and politics.
The award will be given on July 27 during the school’s graduation ceremony at the Jerusalem Cinematheque, when 41 graduates will receive degrees for directing, scriptwriting and production.
