Lebanon indicts three over August rocket attack
Men charged over firing of four rockets at Israel
A Lebanese prosecutor on Monday said three people had been charged over the firing of four rockets toward Israel at the end of August.
Two Lebanese citizens were arrested Saturday in connection with the firing. According to AFP, the two — as well as a Palestinian man, who was still at large — were being charged “with the crime of firing rockets at the occupied territories.”
The four rockets, fired from the Tyre area on August 22, caused some damage to buildings in the north of Israel, but no one was injured in the incident.
The two arrested men were accused of helping transfer the rockets from the village of Gaza to the launch site, Lebanon’s Daily Star reported.
An al-Qaeda-linked organization, by the name of the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, claimed responsibility for the attack.
Israeli Air Force planes bombed targets near the launch area the night after the incident, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel would retaliate for any attack against it.
“Anyone who harms us… who tries to harm us, should know that we will harm them,” he stated.
