Major health service strikes over labor dispute

The workers of Meuhedet Health Services, one of the three largest HMOs in Israel, launched a one-day strike on Monday to protest drawn-out negotiations on a labor agreement.

All of Meuhedet’s clinics closed their doors at 6 a.m. except for those offering critical life-saving services.

Workers declared a labor dispute a month ago after management refused to advance negotiations toward a collective labor agreement.

Meuhedit is one of four organizations that administer universal health insurance in Israel, along with Maccabi Healthcare Services, Clalit, and Leumit.
