Major in elite army unit suspected of sexual harassment
Officer suspended amid allegations he solicited naked photos from subordinates and sent photos of himself having sex with female officer
A high-ranking officer in the IDF Artillery Corps is being investigated for sexual harassment amid allegations that he asked soldiers to send him naked pictures of themselves and circulated photos of himself having sexual relations with a female officer.
The Military Police is conducting the probe, Army Radio reported Wednesday, and has asked soldiers in the officer’s unit to provide testimony. The officer, a major in an elite unit, is responsible for all military courses and training offered by the unit.
He allegedly circulated pictures of himself having sexual relations with the female officer, and solicited photos, over the WhatsApp messaging service.
The radio report said the officer, who had a good reputation in the unit, has been suspended and temporarily replaced.
“We are conducting a military investigation and its findings will be presented to the Military Advocate General,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said.
