Man attacks 2 yeshiva students with firebomb in NY; none hurt
Attacker shouted: 'I want to kill you!' according to witnesses; police investigating
Two young yeshiva students were attacked with a Molotov cocktail in New York while the suspected assailant yelled: “I want to kill you!” according to witnesses.
The two students, Yosef Rachimi and Yisroel Gadafi, both 20, were unharmed in the Friday incident, which was first reported in the New York Daily News on Sunday.
The attack occurred on W. 37th St. near 9th Ave in midtown, according to the report.
Rachimi said he noticed a flash of heat across his legs before the bottle exploded on the sidewalk.
The suspect was described by witness Saleh Hegazy, 45, as a white male wearing a black and blue T-shirt.
“Everybody was scared,” Hegazy said of the attack.
According to the report, the students said police arrived at the scene but didn’t take a complaint.
The police officer “basically said, ‘No injuries, nothing happened, let’s move on,’” Rachimi told the paper through an interpreter, as he only speaks Hebrew.
The NYPD told the paper it was looking into the attack.
