Unidentified gunmen opened fire Friday night at a cafe in the Bedouin town of Tel Sheva in the Negev, killing a man in his thirties and severely wounding a 12-year-old boy. A 16-year-old boy was moderately injured as well, according to the Ynet news site. The injured boys were transferred to the Soroka Hospital in Beersheba for emergency medical treatment.

The assailants reportedly drove by the cafe, opened fire and then fled the scene.

Police launched an investigation into the incident. The motive behind the attack was not immediately clear.

Earlier this week, a man in his twenties and a teenage boy were killed in a drive-by shooting in the Arab village of Jatt in central Israel, in what police suspect was a criminally motivated assassination.

Mukhtar Muhammad Watad, 23, and Ahmad Hamad Watad, 17, were pronounced dead by a medical team that arrived at the scene of the shooting.

Following the shooting, Jatt Mayor Khaled Gera declared a general strike in the village. Gera urged Arab community leaders to take part in the strike as well.
