Man sets himself on fire in central Jerusalem

Police investigating circumstances and motive after attempted self-immolation, which leaves man seriously injured

A man was seriously injured Monday after apparently setting himself on fire in central Jerusalem, police said.

The incident took place near Liberty Bell Park, in the heart of the capital.

The man was brought by Magen David Adom paramedics to a hospital in the city.

Police who arrived at the scene were working to clarify the motive for the attempted self-immolation and the circumstances of the incident.
