Man, 22, killed in Jaffa shooting

A 22-year-old Jaffa resident was shot and killed in a small park in the ancient port city just after midnight Saturday. Neighbors alerted the police after they heard a volley of gunfire.

Magen David Adom emergency rescue services rushed to the scene and tried to resuscitate the victim, Ahmad Sakis, who was wounded in his chest and stomach, but he died of his injuries shortly after.

The Tel Aviv district commander of the investigative unit Yamar, Gadi Eshed, and Tel Aviv District Police Commander Aharon Aksol also responded at the scene of the crime.

Authorities believe the assailant was riding a motorbike when he shot the victim and fled. Large police forces, including a helicopter, scoured the area in search of the suspect.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a Sudanese man was stabbed in the head late Friday night. The incident occurred on Solomon Street near the central bus station in south Tel Aviv.

After being treated near the site of the attack, the victim was rushed to Ichilov Hospital by Magen David Adom. Local police and border police arrived at the scene and began investigating the incident.

The stabbing may have been precipitated by fighting between foreign nationals in the area, authorities said.
