Twenty clowns in a car is an impressive and fun circus act. Twenty goats, one man found out Tuesday, isn’t quite so amusing.

Suspicious border policemen pulled over a vehicle on Monday, and were shocked to find approximately 20 of the animals hidden inside. At least one was dead as a result of lack of oxygen, according to Maariv.

The suspect was stopped at the entrance to his home village of Kfar Fureidis, 30 kilometers (18.5 miles) south of Haifa, where he was bringing the goats from his private farm outside of the village.

An initial investigation revealed that none of the goats were properly vaccinated or marked, and the driver had them in a private vehicle in which transporting livestock is forbidden.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development opened an investigation into the fact that the animals were transported in cruel and crowded conditions, in violation of the Cruelty to Animals law.

The goats were returned to the field from where the driver took them for treatment.
