Man with guilty conscience cops to years-old murder
Dual Israeli-Ukrainian citizen tells Kiryat Shmona police officer he killed someone back in eastern Europe, gets arrested
An Israeli man with Ukrainian citizenship entered a police station in the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona on Wednesday night and confessed to a murder he had apparently committed years prior, police said.
The 23-year-old man told an officer at the station that he had killed another man in a village back in Ukraine “about four years ago,” police said.
According to police, he said that he had come to confess because his “heart hurts.”
The Ukrainian man, whose name was not released as he has yet to be brought before a judge, was placed under arrest and will be taken before a court on Thursday in order to keep him in custody, police said.
As the murder is said to have taken place in Ukraine, details of the case have been sent to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) for further investigation, police said.
