Ram Bergman, the Israeli producer best known for 2012’s time-traveling thriller “Looper,” is headed to a galaxy far, far away.

Bergman will produce the next two Star Wars films, Star Wars Episodes VIII and IX, working alongside writer-director Lian Johnson, with whom he also collaborated on “Looper.”

Bergman, who moved to Hollywood from Israel in 1991 and got his first big break producing 2005’s “Brick,” was named one of Variety magazine’s Top 10 producers to watch in 2008.

Johnson will take over director duties from J.J. Abrams, who is in the midst of directing Star Wars Episode VII.
