Muhammed Abu Khdeir’s relative beaten in Jerusalem
Police say they've yet to receive an official complaint from the family of Zoheir Abu Khdeir, cousin of terror attack victim's father
A relative of a Palestinian teen burned to death in a Jewish terror attack in 2014 was beaten up by unknown assailants Thursday night.
Zoheir Abu Khdeir, a cousin of Muhammed Abu Khdeir’s father and a resident of the Shuafat neighborhood of Jerusalem, was hospitalized with a broken nose, bruising to the head, and a serious cut to the face, the Haaretz daily reported. His family said he described his assailants as Jewish Israelis.
The victim’s family reported the attack to the police, but said police hadn’t opened an investigation even though they offered a photo of the car the suspected assailants drove off in.
Abu Khdeir’s son went to police to report the assault Friday but was told the victim had to report to the station himself, Haaretz reported. The family said doctors also filed a report.
Responding to an inquiry by The Times of Israel Sunday, police reiterated that they had “yet to officially receive a complaint.”
Muhammed Abu Khdeir, 16, was kidnapped and killed on July 1, 2014, just after after it emerged that three Israeli teens who had been abducted several weeks earlier in the West Bank had been killed by their Palestinian kidnappers shortly after they were seized.
