Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting with Arab municipal leaders and Arab Knesset members on Tuesday to discuss problems plaguing the Arab sector in Israel, Reshet Bet reported on Wednesday.

The meeting was called at the urging of MK Ahmad Tibi (Ta’al), who asked Netanyahu to assist with the violence, unemployment and infrastructure problems chronically plaguing Israeli-Arab communities.

According to Reshet Bet, the PM agreed to allocate specific financial assistance to the Taibe Municipality and promised to address the problem in general. Netanyahu said that a policy of affirmative action and allocation of resources is needed to reduce social and economic gaps between general Israeli society and the Arab sector.
