Netanyahus meet with Mariah Carey
Pop star and PM’s wife hit it off and share family photos; reports of a future concert still unconfirmed

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara hosted American pop star Mariah Carey at their official residence on Sunday evening.
Carey was visiting Israel with her boyfriend James Packer, an Australian entrepreneur who is said to be a friend of the Israeli prime minister.
During the visit, Carey and the Netanyahus shared pictures of their sons, and joked about their parenthood experiences.
Carey and Sara Netanyahu hit it off, according to Hebrew media reports, and the pop star expressed her admiration of the fact that the prime minister’s wife continued her career as a psychologist after her husband was elected into office.

Earlier on Sunday, Carey sent a message to her Israeli fans telling them she was “moved” to be in the Holy Land.
“I waited many years to come here, and I am very moved,” she said, according to Army Radio.
Carey, 45, arrived in Israel on Saturday for a short visit and was greeted at Ben Gurion Airport by dozens of local fans. The couple visited the Western Wall on Sunday, and plan to visit Tel Aviv and the Dead Sea in the coming days.
If the visit is successful, Carey will consider scheduling a concert in Israel, the singer’s associates said.
Carey has expressed her support for Israel in the past. She once tweeted holiday wishes to her Jewish fans, sang Israel’s national anthem Hatikva in Adam Sandler’s 2006 film “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan,” and used a few words in Hebrew to an Israeli-born contestant on American Idol in 2013, describing her performance as “sababa,” or cool. (The contestant, who happened to be Shira Gavrielov, daughter of Israeli singer Mickey Gavrielov, did not win.)
Packer, who reportedly bought a house in Israel recently, has business interests in the country.
