New trailer shows first Israeli Game of Thrones actors
Ania Bukstein and Yousef Sweid to appear in the sixth season of the HBO hit fantasy series, due to premiere April 24
Israeli actors Ania Bukstein and Yousef Sweid appear in the newly released trailer for the sixth season Game of Thrones, the hit television series based on the books by George R. R. Martin.
The first episode of the new season is due to air on the HBO network in the US (and in Israel on the Yes network) on April 24.
Bukstein, 33, is a household name in Israel, having appeared in several film, television and theater roles including Rabies, False Flag and The Secrets. She is also an accomplished recording artist.
Sweid, 39, is an Arab Israeli actor, dancer and director known for his roles on screen and in the theater including Homeland and Walk on Water.
The trailer shows a short close-up of Bukstein (0:55) followed by a clip of her walking away from the character Tyrion Lannister, played by Peter Dinklage.
Sweid can be seen standing in a crowd being addressed by Lannister (0:13).
It is not yet known which parts the actors — the first Israelis to appear on the show — will play as they were required to sign confidentiality agreements, Channel 10 reported.
Sweid and Bukstein are not the first Israeli actors to have auditioned for Game of Thrones; Yuval Scharf, Neta Garty and Leem Lubany are also said to have tried out for the new series. It is rumored that Lubany will play a Dosh Khaleen widow in a number of episodes.
