‘Old Jews Telling Jokes’ will schtick it to ’em on New York stage
An off-Broadway show based on the popular website will open in May
Fans of Old Jews Telling Jokes — the website that got famous for presenting exactly what its name suggests — may have been wondering why there haven’t been any updates since September.
Now they know the reason: the creators have been busy preparing “Old Jews Telling Jokes,” the musical.
Producers in New York have announced a stage version of the hit website, set to open off-Broadway in May at Manhattan’s Westside Theater. The production “pays tribute to and reinvents classic jokes of the past and present,” producers promise, adding, “If you’ve ever had a mother, visited a doctor, or walked into a bar with a priest, a rabbi and a frog, Old Jews Telling Jokes will sit in the dark, give you a second opinion, and ask you where you got that.”
Here’s Daniel Okrent, a producer of the new show, working the sort of schtick New Yorkers will soon be seeing onstage.
