One person was killed and 21 people injured at a wedding hall in Yavneh when a light fixture crashed into the crowd. (MDA)
One person was killed and 21 were injured in a event hall venue in the central city of Yavneh late Monday when a large lighting system attached to the ceiling crashed into the crowd below.
The wounded, one moderately and the rest lightly, were taken by paramedics to Kaplan Medical Center, Tel Hashomer Hospital and Assaf Harofeh Medical Center.
The fatality, a woman in her 50s, was initially critically injured and was found without a pulse by medics who arrived at the scene. After several attempts to resuscitate her failed, she was pronounced dead.
Three employees of the event hall were taken for questioning by police, who also ordered the venue closed pending investigation.
