One person was killed and another was critically injured in what police believe was a criminally motivated shooting just south of Tel Aviv on Tuesday.

The fatality was a woman in her 30s, a resident of the city of Ramle. She and her passenger, a man of a similar age were found with multiple gunshot wounds in a vehicle on Albert Kiosso street in the port city of Jaffa, part of the Tel Aviv municipality.

The unnamed man was rushed to Wolfson Hospital in Holon in an effort to save his life.

Preliminary reports suggest the hit was a drive-by shooting.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident and a search for the perpetrator or perpetrators.
