One killed in Negev plant explosion

Six also injured by fire at factory that manufactures ingredients for Teva drugs

One person was killed and six more were moderately injured in an explosion in the Ramat Hovav industrial area in Israel’s south late Thursday afternoon.

The accident occured at the Teva Tech plant, which manufactures active ingredients for Teva Pharmaceuticals.

Firefighters were called to the scene to fight the ensuing blaze.

Ramat Hovav contains plants belonging to many of Israel’s chemical manufacturers and is also home to the country’s main hazardous waste disposal facility.
