Palestinian game pushes battling Israel
'The language of weapons is the most effective,' developers say
Amateur programmers in Gaza have developed a computer game where players can carry out strategic missions to liberate Palestine.
The strategy game is meant to develop familiarity with weapons, and foster a strong sense of resistance among Palestinian children, the game’s developers told Sky News Arabia last week.
“The Liberation of Palestine” allows players to virtually swap prisoners, buy weapons and launch attacks against Israeli settlements, according to the promotional trailer uploaded to the Internet on July 6.
“This game shows young Palestinians, or in fact all Palestinians, that mutual understandings and negotiations over plundered rights can never bring about any positive result. The language of weapons is the most effective with the Israelis,” developer Karam Hussein told Al-Ghad Al-Arabi in an October 19 interview.
The trailer and media reports were translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute, a US-based watchdog group, and posted online October 27.
