Palestinian killed in overnight clashes as troops ready stabber’s home for razing
Footage shows IDF drone strike, military vehicles come under fire in Tulkarem; Islamic Jihad leader reportedly arrested in Ramallah
A Palestinian man was reportedly killed in clashes with IDF troops during a raid near Hebron overnight, authorities said Tuesday.
The Israel Defense Forces said troops in the village of Sa’ir near Hebron late Monday night opened fire on Palestinians who threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at soldiers.
Palestinians reported that one person was killed and two injured in the incident. A spokesperson from Hebron’s Ahli Hospital named the fatality as 24-year-old Sa’ad Nimr Al-Faroukh, according to one report.
Israeli soldiers were in the town to map the family home of a 16-year-old Palestinian who carried out a fatal stabbing attack in Jerusalem Monday, according to a joint IDF, Shin Bet and Border Police statement Tuesday.
The attack, at the Herod’s Gate entrance to the Old City, killed Border Police officer Rose Elisheva Lubin, a lone soldier originally from the Atlanta area, and wounded another border cop.
Mapping is the first step in the process taken by Israeli authorities to carry out the controversial practice of home demolitions. Jerusalem insists that the policy helps deter future attacks, but human rights groups and the US decry the policy as collective punishment.
The joint statement said 28 known terror suspects were arrested in overnight operations, including 11 Hamas members, and a number of hidden explosives and weapons caches were uncovered.
In the northern West Bank, the army carried out a drone strike in the city of Tulkarem, footage showed.

The Israeli statement confirmed the use of airpower in the West Bank operations overnight Monday, to fend off attacks on IDF soldiers.
Clips shared Tuesday on Telegram and X, formerly known as Twitter, showed Palestinians shooting at military vehicles in the West Bank city of Tulkarem.

Troops were also seen operating in Jenin.
On Monday, Israeli forces carried out a daytime raid in Tulkarem, killing four members of a cell that police allege was planning to carry out major attacks on behalf of the Hamas terror group. According to police and the Shin Bet, the cell was working to arm itself and carry out bombing attacks, and had plans to launch rockets from the West Bank and to recruit additional members for attacks.
In Ramallah, Palestinian media reported the arrest of an Islamic Jihad leader from his home Tuesday. The report could not be immediately verified.
The West Bank operations came amid soaring tensions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, as Israel fights a fierce war against the Hamas terror group in the Gaza Strip following its October 7 massacres in southern Israel.
There have been frequent clashes in the West Bank since the war began. Troops have arrested more than 1,350 wanted Palestinians in the West Bank, including some 850 affiliated with Hamas, according to the IDF.
According to data from the Palestinian Authority health ministry, at least 155 West Bank Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces, and in some cases settlers, since October 7.
