Man caught with knife; armed woman stopped near Cave of Patriarchs in Hebron
A Palestinian who crossed the border from the Gaza Strip and into Israel on Sunday was apprehended by security forces.
The man was stopped near the Nahal Oz kibbutz. Security forces found that the man was carrying a knife, although his motives for crossing out of the Hamas-controlled coastal strip were not known.
The man was detained for questioning by security forces.
In a separate incident Sunday, a Palestinian woman was arrested outside the Cave of the Patriarchs in the West Bank city of Hebron, hours after a visit by Foreign Minister Avidgor Liberman to the area.
At the holy site, considered sacred to both Jews and Muslims, Liberman emphasized that his party was determined to remain an integral part of Israel’s right-wing political camp, indicating that the Yisrael Beytenu head will likely strive to join a Netanyahu-led government after the elections.
