Parents of Ecuadorian hurt in Jerusalem attack flown to Israel
Hamas-affiliated website quotes Gaza PM praising perpetrator of attack that killed a three-month-old, injured eight
Israel’s Foreign Ministry on Thursday flew in the parents of an Ecuadorian woman seriously injured in Wednesday’s terrorist attack in Jerusalem.
The parents of the unnamed woman were expected to arrive at Ben Gurion Airport Thursday evening, Israel Radio reported. The woman, who is hospitalized at Hadassah Hospital in Ein Kerem, remains in serious condition a day after a Palestinian man plowed his car into a light rail platform, injuring eight and killing a three-month-old Chaya Zissel Braun.
The Ecuadorian woman underwent surgery on her skull and was hospitalized in the emergency ward. Another woman injured in the incident was in the same ward receiving treatment for light injuries.
A third woman injured in the attack was transferred to Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Hospital in moderate to light condition.
Following the deadly attack, a Hamas-affiliated website quoted Hamas’s leader in the Gaza Strip Ismail Haniyeh praising the terrorist attack and its suspected perpetrator, Abdelrahman al-Shaludi.
Israeli officials charged that Shaludi, 21, from the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan, was a Hamas supporters, and postings by Shaludi on social media voiced support for Hamas and suicide attacks.
