Pilobolus brings robots and dancing ostriches to Herzliya

The renowned dance troupe will perform 'Shadowland 2' this week

American modern dance company Pilobolus is known for its quirky, inventive works, and that’s certainly true of its latest production, “Shadowland 2,” being performed this week, Monday through Friday, at the Herzliya Center for the Performing Arts.

The work combines dance, animation, video and shadow theater in a cross between science fiction and romantic comedy, and involves a herd of ostriches  — dancing ones — who are abducted by nasty robots.

This particular production will include a piece created for Shlomo Artzi’s “Moon,” that will be dedicated to the Israeli audience.

The work follows “Shadowland” (2009), which was seen by more than a million viewers in 32 countries. Pilobolus dancers are trained in classical and modern ballet, acrobatics, juggling and martial arts, and have performed at the Oscars, at the Olympics and on Broadway.
