Police: Nahariya stabbing in November had no terror motive
Officials say Arab teenager who attacked and injured border policeman did not do so for nationalistic reasons
Police sources say an investigation into why an Arab Israeli teenager stabbed a border policeman in Nahariya last month has concluded that he did so out of emotional stress and not as an act of terror, Channel 2 reported Sunday.
Investigators said that the 16-year-old had no criminal or terrorist past, nor is there any evidence of such activity on social media.
The 16-year-old, from a village in the Galilee, stabbed the 37-year-old policeman twice in the back during the November 27 attack.
The teen then fled the scene of the assault, close to the city’s central bus station, but was apprehended by security forces some two hours after the incident.
The youth confessed to the act, but said in his confession that he and the officer had argued before the stabbing took place.
The Border Police officer sustained light wounds. He said that the teen jumped him from behind and stabbed him.
