Police seize cocaine stash in children’s sandbox
Cops arrest two after digging up 1 kilo of drug and 50 rounds of ammunition buried in playground in Lod
Police found a cocaine stash in a children’s playground on Saturday.
The one-kilo haul was buried in a sandbox in a play area in Lod, outside Tel Aviv, Israel Police spokesperson Luba Sumri said in a statement on Sunday.
Police lay in wait in the park and arrested a 17-year-old boy who was found to have approximately 300 grams of a substance suspected as cocaine on his person.
Police bought in a mechanical digger to find the remaining stash, some 700 grams of a substance suspected to be cocaine.
Police also uncovered some 50 rounds of 5.56-caliber ammunition hidden in the sand.
The teenager and his 30-years old brother, both residents of Lod, were arrested on suspicion possessing of banned substances.
They were brought to the Rishon Lezion Magistrate’s Court on Sunday morning and were remanded for a further four days.
