Police shoot, kill man in Kafr Kanna

Police on Friday night shot a 20-year-old man from Kafr Kanna who attempted to stab an officer in the northern Arab town near Nazareth. The man later died of his wounds.

According to preliminary reports, police arrived at the man’s house in the Galilean town to arrest him on suspicion of throwing a stun grenade. When the suspect attempted to stab one of the officers, the police shot and critically injured the man.

The unnamed suspect was taken to Emek Hospital in Afula, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Police said that they warned the man by firing in the air, and when he didn’t desist, he was shot in the chest.

Significant numbers of police officers arrived on the scene to investigate the incident.
