Police suspect double suicide in northern Israel

The bodies of a man and a woman were discovered on Saturday morning by passersby in the woods near the northern Israeli village of Ein Hod.

Police suspect a double suicide, after having earlier considered a murder-suicide, since the female’s body showed signs of violence.

The two were an engaged couple from a nearby village, and according to Israel Radio, their families were against the marriage.

Magen David Adom forces that arrived at the scene began resuscitation efforts immediately but pronounced both people dead shortly thereafter.

According to an initial police inquiry, it was revealed that the male had been attacked in recent days and injured by members of his fiancée’s family, reported Walla news.

Two of the female’s brothers were detained by police on Saturday for questioning.
