Policeman charged with murdering his wife
Prosecutors say Netanya officer Moshe Wasa shot Angoach Malkmu Wasa to death during a heated argument
The Justice Ministry’s Police Internal Investigations Department filed an indictment on murder charges Thursday at the Lod District Court against a police officer who shot his wife dead in their apartment last month.
Moshe (Masresha) Wasa, 24, shot and killed his wife, Angoach Malkmu Wasa, 36, in their home in the central city of Netanya.
The woman’s two children from a previous marriage, aged 7 and 4, as well as the couple’s two-month-old baby, were in the home at the time, the ministry said in a statement.
According to the indictment, on October 14, “due to a verbal altercation between the deceased and the accused, he attacked her and caused her injuries.”
During the altercation the accused hit his wife with a saucepan lid and kicked her legs, knocking her to floor and causing her leg to bleed.
He then went to their bedroom, took his firearm from the cupboard, returned to the room where she was sitting and shot her in the face, killing her on the spot, the indictment said.
After shooting his wife, Wasa phoned police to say, “I murdered my wife,” the force said at the time.
Prosecutors said that the killing was premeditated, and asked that the defendant be held until the end of proceedings.
There had been no previous reports of domestic violence or problems in the family, police said at the time.
