Poll shows 1 in 3 Israeli parents do not want kids to study with the disabled
Survey by Access Israel also indicates half of Israelis know a person who uses a disabilities parking permit without warrant
A new poll of Israelis shows one in three parents do not want their children to study with kids with disabilities.
The poll, conducted among 553 adults by Access Israel, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, also showed that some half of Israelis know a person who uses a disabilities parking permit that does not belong to them.
Some 75 percent of respondents said Israel does not do enough to advance the rights of people with disabilities. One in three said they deal with a physical or mental disability or limitation, or assist someone with such a problem.
Yuval Wagner, founder and president of Access Israel, said that “unfortunately, we were not surprised by the painful data.
“In a situation where the country itself does not meet its goals for disabled access legislation… it’s not surprising that these are the results.
“As long as Israel is not accessible, 1.5 million people in Israel and their families are hurt.”
