Police recently arrested a former prominent figure in the ultra-Orthodox community on suspicion of involvement in serious sex offenses.

The Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court, which on Friday sent the man to five days of house arrest, issued a gag order on the details of the investigation and on other details that might identify the suspect.

The man, a 60-year-old resident of a central West Bank settlement, is suspected of rape, sodomy and sexual crimes concerning family members, Haaretz reported. The court has forbidden the suspect from contacting any individuals involved in the crimes attributed to him.

Police sought to delay the court’s decision to send the man to house arrest so that they could be given the opportunity to file an appeal to extend the suspect’s remand.

A woman who filed a complaint against the suspect said that the actions attributed to the man occurred in recent years, according to Haaretz.

The suspect has denied all allegations made against him.
