Remixed PM belts out ‘Chandelier’
Edited video clip has prime minister singing along to hit single about partying hard
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s penchant for tubs of ice cream, non-kosher veal and private beds on planes is already legend. Now, excessive drinking and swinging from a chandelier can be added to the list — kind of.
With a little crafty editing and no doubt a lot of patience, creative music enthusiasts have managed to piece together a video clip, posted on the Internet Thursday, in which Netanyahu unwittingly sings along to pop star Sia’s hit single “Chandelier.”
In the video, comprising innumerable short clips of Netanyahu speaking, the prime minister appears to say all of the lyrics to the song which describes how the singer’s urge to enjoy life makes her want to drink a lot and “swing from the chandelier.”
“I’m the one for a good time,” says the edited Netanyahu in his deep baritone voice, a contrast to Australian-born Sia’s mezzo-soprano.
“I’m gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier, I’m gonna live like tomorrow doesn’t exist,” he says. “Like it doesn’t exist.”
The video was posted to the Facebook account of the Squeaking Statuses media group, although it was not clear who actually produced the clip.
In the original video for the Chandelier pop song, released in March, young dancer Maddie Ziegler, 12, performs a series of leaps, twirls, and impressive rubbery dance maneuvers while wearing a blonde wig and a leotard.
Netanyahu is far from the first leader to be made to sing pop songs by video editors with way too much time on their hands.
