Rocket fired from Gaza explodes near Eshkol
IAF responds by targeting weapons lab and tunnel in the Strip
A Kassam rocket fired from Gaza blew up in a field in the Eshkol region in southern Israel. No damage or injuries were reported.
In response to the attack, the Air Force fired at a weapons manufacturing site and a tunnel in the northern Gaza Strip. The IDF Spokesperson said that the targets were precisely identified and all planes had returned safely to their bases.
The rocket attack came a day after Israeli planes struck a number of targets within the Gaza strip, injuring seven people.
The Israel Defense Forces said the sortie was in response to a gunbattle on Friday that left dead an IDF soldier and Palestinian who crossed the Gaza fence into Israel.
A number of rockets were fired into Israel Friday, with no damage reported.
Sporadic rocket fire from Gaza into Israel has continued, despite an almost three-month truce following an escalation in hostilities in March.
