Sacha Baron Cohen buries granny in TA
British actor flies to Israel for his 99-year-old grandmother's funeral
Comic actor Sacha Baron Cohen was in Israel last week for the funeral of his 99-year-old grandmother, Liselle Weiser.
Baron Cohen often visited his grandmother, who moved to Israel after growing up in Germany and emigrating to England. Baron Cohen’s mother, Daniella Weiser, was born in Israel.
The funeral was held in north Tel Aviv’s Kiryat Shaul Cemetery, where Baron Cohen stood out in a gray hat and black sunglasses, according to photos taken at the event.
According to celebrity watching TV show “Good Evening with Guy Pines,” which interviewed Weiser in the last year, Baron Cohen’s grandmother thought he was a talented, “very intelligent” actor, despite the comic turns he’s taken in his work.
She also commented that one of Baron Cohen’s two daughters looks like him, while the other looks like his wife, actress Isla Fisher.
